Terms of use for the non-profit platform #Unterkunft Ukraine
(I) Our drive
#Unterkunft Ukraine is an offer that supports a civil society in solidarity. The war in Ukraine shocks us all. We are not able to prevent the violence there.
Hence the thought: then let’s at least share our home with refugees and set up a platform for this. We want to counter the violence and division with direct human connections and lived solidarity, with all people in the region. Our concern is to build a safe, long-term solution for refugees based on partnership.
#Unterkunft Ukrainee is a mediation platform that aims to bring together refugees with private households willing to help (so-called “mediation”). Participation on the platform does not constitute a claim to the placement of an accommodation.
(II) Functioning of the platform
#Unterkunft Ukraine offers on the website: https://unterkunft-ukraine.de/ a platform for the mediation of accommodation for refugees from Ukraine. On the platform provided, private households (“hosts”) in Germany can offer accommodation for refugees and refugees can search for accommodation.
Both hosts and refugees can use various criteria to describe their offer or request. The submitted offers and requests are bundled and stored in a central database. The requirements of data protection law are always taken into account.
#Unterkunft Ukraine brings together suitable offers and requests on the basis of the specified criteria and also enables third parties to carry out this combination via a partner program. #Unterkunft Ukraine verifies the identity of the hosts only within the scope of reasonable possibilities.
Reliable information is essential for the matching of refugees with hosts. Hosts and refugees are obliged to provide complete and truthful information on the platform, especially regarding identity, age and contact details. A minimum age of 18 years is required for offering accommodation.
If suitable offers and requests are found, a proposal is made to the host to accept the respective request. The host can accept this proposal or reject it without giving reasons.
Minors are not allowed to post requests on the platform without their families. They are not allowed to be accommodated privately. The hosts have to contact the police or the youth welfare office.
Currently, only placements within Germany are offered.
(III) Mediation as a courtesy
The offer of Unterkunft-Ukraine has been created as a contribution of the solidarity community. There is no entitlement to mediation services or remuneration for the accommodation, mediation or bringing together of hosts* and refugees. Participation on the platform, the provision of personal data and accommodation is voluntary and free of charge for both hosts and refugees.
The service provided by #Unterkunft Ukraine is purely a courtesy service. The availability and access to the platform at any time is not guaranteed. #Unterkunft Ukraine pursues the sole goal of helping refugees. Economic interests are not pursued.
All refugees who are placed through Unterkunft-Ukraine receive free liability insurance from ERGO Insurance for the duration of their accommodation. Therefore, if any damage occurs in your offered accommodation by a person mediated by Unterkunft-Ukraine, this person and all fellow travelers can report this damage through their liability insurance and have it settled. If you have offered an accommodation through our portal and a damage has occurred, you can also report it directly through the provided form. Damages under 100 € to movable property in the accommodation are not insured. The insurance conditions of the liability insurance can be found here and the attachment to the insurance policy here.
(IV) Disclaimer
The liability of #Unterkunft Ukraine is excluded, with the exception of liability for grossly negligent and intentional damage and liability for injury to life, limb and health.

Any liability for damages resulting directly or indirectly from the use of free, freely accessible parts of this website is excluded, unless caused by intent or gross negligence.
